CIBC card bundled with the newcomer account

CIBC's newcomer page points you at a Dividend Platinum Visa and a bundle bonus on top of the Smart Account. We are not stating an interest rate because that page does not print one.

What we could verify

CIBC publishes the chequing offer in much more detail than the card. What we can say from the pages we opened is that a card is part of the bundle, that Dividend Platinum is the card they name, and that the dollar figures are offer values rather than a credit limit. We did not find a 'no Canadian credit history, limit up to X' sentence on the page we used, so we are not inventing one.

If you want the bundle bonus, open the account and the card close together and read which actions have to happen within 60 days. The January 2026 Smart Account and credit card terms say the extra $100 card reward requires that you were not a primary CIBC cardholder in the previous five years. Those terms are a PDF linked from CIBC. Re-check them. They are dated and will be replaced.

Who it is for

The newcomer banking offer we reviewed is for people 25 and older who meet CIBC's new-client rules. Credit approval is separate. Ask CIBC what status documents they need for the card.

How to act on it

Start from the newcomer account page and follow the credit-card link. Apply only after you have read the current bonus terms.
