What we could verify
- IRCC describes Settlement.Org as a place where newcomers in Ontario get information, read news, ask questions, and search a database of community organizations.
- Guides on the site walk through practical tasks such as opening a bank account, and they point back to federal rules rather than selling a product.
- It is an information service. It does not replace an IRCC-funded settlement worker or a provincial program.
- Use it for Ontario-specific explanations, then confirm anything with a deadline on the government page it cites.
When a form name or a ministry website is confusing, Settlement.Org is often the page that says which office does what. It is run for Ontario, so do not use it as the rule book for British Columbia or Quebec. IRCC lists it among immigrant-serving information practices, which is why it is in this directory.
Treat it as a starting explanation. If an article and a government page disagree, the government page wins, and the article may simply be older. The banking article we read, for example, correctly sends you to identification rules and to newcomer bank packages, but the packages themselves change.
Who it is for
Anyone settling in Ontario can read it. Some programs the site describes have their own status rules.
How to act on it
Search the site for the task you are stuck on, then follow the link to the official form or the local agency.

The federal government funds free settlement help outside Quebec: job search, language classes, help getting licensed, and someone to build a settlement plan with you. A postal-code search finds the agency.
