Koodo says it is a Canoo Newcomer Equity Partner through the Institute for Canadian Citizenship.
The page says the partnership brings exclusive deals across Koodo and TELUS.
No monthly price or data amount was stated on the newcomer page we opened.
Koodo is a TELUS brand, so coverage is the TELUS network. Confirm the map for your city.
Third-party pages sometimes quote a specific Koodo newcomer price, such as a 60 GB plan at a dollar amount. Those pages are not Koodo's newcomer page, and we are not repeating them. If a price matters to you, get it from koodomobile.com or a store on the day you sign, and ask whether it is a newcomer offer or a public in-market plan.
Koodo is often the more flexible of the TELUS brands, with bring-your-own-phone plans and a tab if you need a phone. None of that replaces reading the current critical information summary, which is the document that states the term, the data, and what happens if you cancel.
Who it is for
The page speaks to newcomers generally through the Canoo partnership. Ask the store which status documents they need. Do not assume a work permit is enough until they say so.
How to act on it
Start at Koodo's newcomers page, then check current plans in the shop flow or a store. Ignore prices that are not on Koodo's own site.
Bell's current bring-your-own-phone page lists in-market prices, including a 100 GB plan shown at $60 a month and an unlimited plan with U.S. and Mexico shown at $75. These are not labelled as newcomer discounts.
chatr is the Rogers prepaid brand. On Rogers' own newcomer page it is described as no credit check, no term contract, and no commitment, with nationwide 4G.
Bell no longer opens new prepaid accounts. Its prepaid page sends new customers to Lucky Mobile and says those plans have no long-term commitment, no credit check, and no data overages.
